For 170 years, Providence has cared for our communities with compassion and purpose. At Providence Swedish, we carry that commitment forward through strong community partnerships and a shared dedication to serving those who rely on us most.
In 2025, despite ongoing challenges facing healthcare nationwide, the Providence family of organizations remained steadfast in our Mission. Last year, Providence Swedish contributed a total of $534 million in community benefit programs helping expand access to care, strengthen community health and respond to the needs of residents across the Puget Sound.
Care by the numbers
In 2025, Providence Swedish supported:
- $352 million in unpaid costs of Medicaid and other means-tested government programs
- $94.9 million in free and discounted care for the uninsured and underinsured
- $56.1 million for health professions, education and research
- $21.8 million for subsidized health services
- $9.8 million for community health improvement and strategic partnerships

About Providence Swedish
Providence Swedish has served the Puget Sound region since the first Providence hospital opened in Seattle in 1877 and the first Swedish hospital opened in 1910. The two organizations affiliated in 2012 and today comprise the largest health care delivery system in Western Washington, with 24,000 caregivers, eight hospitals and 244 clinics throughout Western Washington – from Everett to Centralia.
