Swedish hospitals score highest safety marks from the Leapfrog Group
The distinction recognizes achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital.
Providence Swedish's First Hill and Cherry Hill campuses each receives grades of A in the 2022 hospital safety survey from the Leapfrog Group.
Leapfrog released updates to its hospital safety grades on November 16, assigning ratings to some 3,000 acute care hospitals in the United States based on safety performance, their ability to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
The Leapfrog grading system is based on peer-reviewed data and more than 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the federal agency that administers the nation's major healthcare programs including Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program.
"This week, Swedish First Hill and Cherry Hill were recognized with grades of A in the biannual Leapfrog Patient Safety Survey," said Elizabeth Wako, M.D., chief executive for Swedish Seattle. "Patient safety is a top priority for every Swedish caregiver. We're extremely proud of this recognition and the dedicated Swedish caregivers who are behind it."
