David Selander, M.D., MBA, named chief medical officer for Providence Swedish Central Puget Sound

Dr. Selander will help advance quality, safety, clinical excellence and access across Providence Swedish Central Puget Sound. He will also focus on strengthening physician engagement and building trusted relationships with physicians across the medical staff.
Providence Swedish has named David Selander, M.D., MBA, chief medical officer for Central Puget Sound, effective Oct. 18.
Dr. Selander brings more than 16 years of experience at Swedish, beginning his career with the organization as an emergency physician at Cherry Hill shortly after completing his residency. Since then, he has held a number of clinical and operational leadership roles, including medical director of the Cherry Hill and First Hill emergency departments, chief of emergency medicine, executive medical director of acute care and emergency medicine, and medical director of the Providence Swedish Staffing, Transfer, and Operations Center.
In his new role, Dr. Selander will help advance quality, safety, clinical excellence and access across Providence Swedish Central Puget Sound. He will also focus on strengthening physician engagement and building trusted relationships with physicians across the medical staff.
Dr. Selander will continue to play a key leadership role in the planning and opening of Hughes Tower in 2027, an important milestone in Providence Swedish’s continued investment in care for the Puget Sound region.

Dr. Selander trained at the University of Rochester and Cook County Hospital and earned his MBA from Seattle University.
