Is it sleep deprivation or sleep deficiency?

Staying up late every now and then to finish a good book or watch the last episode of a series you’re binge watching probably won’t cause any lasting damage. You’ll be sleep deprived and maybe a little sluggish the next day but you shouldn’t suffer any dire consequences to your health if you don’t get your recommended 7 to 9 hours of shut eye occasionally.

Sleep deficiency, on the other hand, is an entirely different scenario with much greater potential to seriously impact your health. Dr. Darius Zoroufy from the Swedish Issaquah Sleep Lab weighs in on the differences.

Here’s a look at both.
