Swedish donates 1000 emergency preparedness kits to Lifelong
On Thursday, August 13, Swedish donated 1,000 emergency preparedness kits to Lifelong (value $55,000). Lifelong is a community health organization that serves chronically ill individuals in 18 counties in Western Washington through food, housing, and health services.
The majority of the kits will be delivered to Lifelong’s homebound and isolated clients —1,000 total — served by the Chicken Soup Brigade food program in Seattle/King County. A small number will go to clients living in more rural areas throughout Western Washington.
Volunteer delivery drivers will drop-off the kits in person to clients, most of whom are over the age of 65 and have little to no support system to help them in times of crisis.
“Our clients living with limited mobility issues and chronic illness will be among the most vulnerable in the event of a natural disaster or emergency,” states Paul Getzel, Director of Chicken Soup Brigade. “When the worst happens, these kits will help keep our clients as safe and healthy as possible. We are grateful to Swedish for this generous donation that will provide substantial peace of mind to our clients and their families.”
The kits are developed by American Preparedness, a Seattle based veteran owned business and leading manufacturer and distributor of emergency preparedness kits for government, military, businesses, disaster relief organizations, and individuals and families.
